Help & FAQ

Common questions, and what to do if something doesn't work.

Q&A
What is Social Signal Swap?

A cross-posting exchange for creators. You post a link to your video, other creators cross-post it to their own audience, and yours grows in return. There's a free lane for smaller creators and a paid lane for anyone who'd rather charge for the reach — you choose per video.

How do I create an account?

There's no sign-up form or password. Click Sign in and continue with Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok — that login is what verifies you're a real creator and pulls in your handle, avatar, bio, and follower count automatically.

How do the creator tiers work?

Your tier is based on whichever linked platform (Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok) has the higher follower count.

Can I link both Instagram and YouTube?

Yes. Sign in with one to create your account, then use Edit Profile → Link account to add the other. Both follower counts show side by side on your profile, and your tier uses whichever is higher.

What's the difference between Free Exchange and a paid drop?

A free drop is a straight swap — post each other's videos, no money involved. A paid drop lets the poster name a price they're willing to pay to get their video in front of a bigger audience (that's pay for reach); another creator can accept and get paid to post it (that's earn to post), or negotiate/counter through the messaging thread on that drop.

How does payment actually work?

Social Signal Swap never touches money. If two creators agree on a paid deal, they negotiate the amount in the thread and mark it agreed. Momentum creators can add payment links (Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, Zelle, or other) in Edit Profile — once a deal is agreed, the paying creator sees exactly where to send it. After sending the real payment off-platform, the payer clicks "I sent payment" and the receiver clicks "Confirm payment received" once it's in hand — that record is what a report can point back to if something doesn't add up.

Where do I add my payment info so people can pay me?

Open Edit Profile — if you're Momentum tier, you'll see a Payment links section (Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, Zelle, Other). Fill in whichever you use. These are private — only shown to a creator you have an agreed paid deal with, never on your public bio page.

What if someone doesn't send or confirm a payment as promised?

Open that deal's thread and click report @handle next to the payment section (or use Report profile on their bio page) — pick "Didn't send the payment they marked as sent / owe" and describe what happened. See Terms of Service for what can happen to an account found to have defrauded another creator.

Is it free to join?

Yes, always. Signing in, posting drops, and browsing search costs nothing. The only exchanges of money are the ones two creators arrange directly for a paid drop, and that's between them.

Do I need to sign in to search?

Yes — creating a free account (signing in with Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok) is what unlocks search results. It takes under a minute and there's no password to set up.

How do I report a video or a profile?

Open the video's card and click ⚑ Report at the bottom, or open a creator's bio page and click ⚑ Report profile. Pick the reason that fits best and add a message with details — dates, what was agreed, links, anything that helps us look into it. You'll need to be signed in so we know who to follow up with.

What can I report someone for?
What happens after I submit a report?

Our team reviews every report. If it turns out an account violated the rules — including failing to honor an agreed cross-post or payment, impersonation, or spamming — that account can be warned, suspended, or permanently banned. See the Terms of Service for the full policy. Filing a false or bad-faith report is itself a violation.

Troubleshooting
I see a "Google hasn't verified this app" warning when signing in with YouTube

This is expected right now — Social Signal Swap's YouTube sign-in is going through Google's verification review. It's still safe to continue: click Advanced, then Go to Social Signal Swap (unsafe). This warning will disappear once Google finishes reviewing the app.

Instagram says "Insufficient Developer Role"

Instagram sign-in is currently in Meta's review process too. Until that review completes, only accounts added as testers can sign in with Instagram. This restriction lifts once Meta approves the app for public use — try YouTube sign-in in the meantime if you have a channel.

Sign-in didn't complete, or says "no channel found"

This can happen if your YouTube channel lives on a separate Brand Account from the Google account you signed in with. Try signing in again and choosing the Google account that's directly tied to your channel (check myaccount.google.com or YouTube Studio to confirm which one that is).

Nothing happens when I click "Continue with Instagram" or "Continue with YouTube"

Check that pop-up or redirect blocking isn't enabled in your browser, and that you're not in a private/incognito window with third-party cookies fully blocked. Disabling any ad blocker for this site can also help.

My follower count looks wrong

Your follower count syncs automatically from your linked platform(s) every time you sign in — it isn't editable by hand, so it stays accurate. If it looks stale, sign out and sign back in with that platform to refresh it.

My video isn't showing up in the Feed

Check the tier and category filters in the sidebar — a drop only shows when it matches the tiers and categories currently checked. Clearing all filters shows everything.
